The engine room of a ship includes generators, boilers and various other units. Especially Feed Water Filter Tank pulling sea water and feeding cooling water to a boiler consists of:
i. a filter separating and removing impurities from sea water
ii. an oil detector keeping it from sea oil inflow or a back flow of oil
iii. a salinometer measuring salinity of incoming sea water
iv. Steam injector is installed inside tank to keep the temperature of the tank between 60 and 80 deg. C.
v. Circulation pump, economize Feed water pumps are installed together based on required capacity

Sewage in a ship is divided into grey and black water. Dumping sewage at sea while a ship is anchored or when a ship is within certain distance from land is strictly prohibited by law for environment protection
Discharging filthy water at sea after chemical treatment is also prohibited, requiring sewage collecting tank to hold it until the ship is in condition of discharging sewage at a designated area

All machines just starting up in the Engine Room (E/R) naturally emit heat. To absorb the emitted heat, fresh water circulates surrounding of those machineries in the E/R. As the fresh water temperature goes up, sea water takes the role of cooling down its temperature.
The cooling unit with pipes, valves and other accessories is called Central Fresh Water Cooler Unit. To prevent cooler from corrosion by the sea water, titanium plate (general thickness is 0.5mm) which has an excellent corrosion resistance feature, is normally used for Central Fresh Water Cooler. A Central Fresh Water Cooler Unit generally consists of 2 or 3 sets of coolers.

This pump unit cools down Main Engine Jacket Feed water preheater by drawing cooling water near main engine when the engine is operated.
Cooling water goes through Feed water Generator, Oil Detector, Deaerating Chamber, Main engine (M/E) Jacket Cooling Pump and finally reaches M/E Jacket F.W. preheater.
Based on engine volume, various pumps meeting standard requirements are applied.

Purifier unit which is composed of Main Engine F.O. Supply Unit, generator F.O. Supply Unit and Boiler F.O. Supply Unit, is so large that it even forms its own room in a ship.
In addition, the engine of a ship is also so large that it required large quantity of fuel. Therefore, relatively inexpensive bunker oil is mainly used for ships and Purifier unit is installed to purify bunker oil.

A great number of valves and devices are equipped as a module unit so as to transfer purified oil from Purifier Unit to each storage oil tanks in the engine room, and to easily to utilize and maintain those valves and devices

Waste Oil in a ship is regularly removed by an incinerator. Heating coil inside Waste Oil settling / service tank and M.D.O. tank improve oil liquidity. Hot steam goes through the heating coil keeping tanks warm while outside of the tank is also kept warm by insulation materials. Waste oil settling / service tank and an incinerator forms a module unit with M.D.O. tank storing marine diesel oil for an incinerator operation purpose.

Stem tube lubricate oil circulates to lubricate, to cool down and to keep shaft seal from sea water, Two gravity tanks could be installed as high and low tanks, when it comes to the shop having over 10m height variation

This tank temporarily collects carbon generated from Exhaust Gas Economizer activity, Otherwise the carbon could be accumulated between Economizer pins.

Cylinder oil measuring tank monitors the amount of cylinder oil inflow for main engine. One day cylinder oil consumption becomes the volume standard.

Fresh Water Expansion Tank compensates volume change resulting from variation in temperature. Additionally the tank sustains its static head and also compensates fresh water loss in system.

Sewage Treatment System which consists of Sewage Collecting Tank and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), biologically decomposes grey or black water into clean water.
